The Beacon of Hope 5k Run/Walk and 1 Mile Memory Walk is held annually at the beautiful Virginia Beach Oceanfront.
All proceeds from the race support the programs of I Need A Lighthouse, Inc.
The mission of I Need A Lighthouse, Inc. is to significantly reduce the loss and suffering from teen and young adult depression, suicide, and suicidal behavior through educational programs and community partnerships. All services are provided in the Hampton Roads community. For more information about Lighthouse's mission and programs click here.

Family Festival
Come early to register and let the kids enjoy bouncing around in our HUGE bounce house, playing corn hole and racing thorugh an obstacle course by the Virginia Beach Field House. Live entertainment by David Cavitt. Wristbands will be sold for $5 each and include bounce house admission, corn hole, and an obstacle course. Bravo! Italian Cucina will be providng a FREE breakfast from 8:30-10:00! Meet WVEC News Anchors LaSalle Blanks, Joe Flanagan, and Regina Mobley. Don't forget to bring a can of food for the Food Bank. **wristbands are good for kids activities at the after party (face painting, craft and corn hole).
Beacon of Hope 5k Run/Walk
This race begins at 24th Street Park and follows the board walk along the oceanfront for a beautiful run ending once again at 24th Street Park. The course is scenic and enjoyable for novice and experienced racers. Meet WVEC News Anchors LaSalle Blanks, Joe Flanagan, and Regina Mobley. Bring a can of food for the Food Bank! Come early to beat the registration crowd AND enjoy a FREE breakfast courtesy of Bravo! Italian Cucina.
1 Mile Memory Walk
Those who have been personally touched by suicide and/or depression are invited to join us in a 1 Mile Memory Walk Share with others, and support local efforts to promote education and awareness about teen depression and suicide. Participants are invited to bring a copy of a photo (no originals please) to post on the memory wall at the race.
After Party @ Abbey Road Pub
After the race walk to Abbey Road Pub for the Beacon of Hope After Party. Party admission is included in your registration fee. Your registration includes: One entree, one beverage (soda, beer, etc.). Additional food will be available for sale. Join us for entertainment, race awards, a silent auction, and fun activities for the kids. ** kids 12 and under are admitted to the party for free. Kids entrees will be available for purchase & kids activities are available with the purchase of a $5 wristband.
